Nova Dwelling
Arumbakkam

About Project:
Nestled in the urban fabric of Arumbakkam, Nova Dwelling was conceptualized as a serene retreat that merges the calming sensibilities of Japanese design with the understated elegance of minimal luxury. The client envisioned a home that was tranquil, balanced, and timeless—where form meets function in its purest expression. Our design approach began by distilling the core principles of both styles: simplicity, natural materials, and spatial clarity from Japanese aesthetics, and refined textures, clean detailing, and curated sophistication from minimal luxury. The result is a space that feels light yet grounded, curated yet unpretentious. We began with a neutral, earthy palette—soft whites, ash wood tones, and muted greys—enhanced with subtle accents of brushed gold and matte black to bring in that hint of luxe. The layout was kept open and fluid, allowing natural light to animate the spaces throughout the day. Sliding partitions, fluted glass, and Shoji-inspired screens were introduced to define areas without breaking visual continuity. Custom-designed furniture pieces, crafted in warm wood and soft fabrics, were kept low and clean-lined, reflecting both Japanese tradition and contemporary minimalism. Materials like rattan, linen, and natural stone were layered with intention—offering tactile warmth and visual calm. Storage was seamlessly integrated into the architecture—concealed, flush, and efficient—ensuring the purity of each space was preserved. Decorative elements were minimal, with focus placed on select artisanal objects, indoor greens, and artworks that spoke of restraint and quiet character. Through close collaboration and thoughtful detailing, Nova Dwelling became a true reflection of the client’s lifestyle—a space that exudes peace, presence, and quiet luxury. In a city that moves fast, this home was designed to slow down, breathe, and simply be.
